Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to Questions You May Have From the Start
WHAT MAKES THE 10/40 MTI UNIQUE?
The 10/40 MTI was designed to equip and empower those who have a passion to win the lost and unreached people of the world. Through spiritual and practical training sessions, this school gets you in motion doing what you were designed to do – influence your world. The 10/40 MTI helps you become self-sustained and give you the tools you need to last in ministry and missions.
WHAT WILL MY TYPICAL SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?
A normal school week starts on Monday and continues through Thursday from 8:00 AM – 4:10 PM. The week consists of praise and worship, prayer, and multiple classes of rotational subjects. Books and assignments, as well as presentations, are assigned throughout the year. Projects are graded and constructive feedback is given to further training. Friday through Sunday will require just 12 hours total per week for your internship with the Busia Miracle Center Ministries, serving the church and community in service, evangelism and outreaches.
HOW LONG IS THE SCHOOL YEAR?
The 10/40 MTI is divided into two semesters. The first semester begins early-June and ends mid-July. The second semester begins mid-July and ends late-August. Graduation and Ordination follows the last week of school.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE COST?
Tuition covers the cost of books, ministry material, training, and the classes taught by experienced ministers and missionaries. Your stay in the 10/40 MTI dormitory is also included along with food and living expenses. PMI, the BMCM and GWFCM has committed to providing the full cost of your tuition and living expenses during your schooling through our Student Sponsorship Program. This is a great responsibility for us all so we ask for your full respect in showing gratitude.
CAN I MAKE DONATIONS TOWARD MY OWN TUITION OR SOMEONE ELSES?
The total cost of the tuition is $1,040 per student and is due into the offices no later than May 20th. Payments and donations are welcome and can be made prior to this deadline by students and/or supportive ministries or family. 10/40 MTI Students will not be able to attend without a full sponsorship paid by the deadline for each year.
DO I STILL NEED TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE ROUND-TRIP TO BUSIA UGANDA?
Yes, you are still completely responsible to raise the funds to get you to Busia and back home from Busia after the school year. This is all we have made mandatory of each student. Part of the training you will receive will be on how to effectively raise support through various fundraisers and partner communication to fund your ministry and missionary endeavors. We advise anyone preparing to attend the school, to set up a phone appointment with a 10/40 MTI advisor to talk about how to get started financially to attend the school year.
DOES THE 10/40 MTI PROVIDE HOUSING?
Housing is provided in our 10/40 MTI facility which has 2 floors of rooms; however, space is limited. Once your application has been accepted, we will work with you to get your room reserved in the dorms. If housing is full, we welcome you to join us for the following school term.
WILL I BE REQUIRED TO SHARE A ROOM WITH ANOTHER STUDENT?
Yes, depending on the number of students registered for that term. Every room in the 10/40 MTI building has bunk beds for each student. In some rooms there are two bunk beds in each room making room for four students per room. Other rooms have 3 bunk beds making room for 6 students per room. Sharing rooms will depend on the room and the number of students per school year.
WHAT KIND OF COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE DO I NEED?
Computers with software have been donated for all classes but will belong to the school and must stay with the school at all times. We will supply adequate USB jump drives to each student to have and keep their notes on. The jump drive will go home with you. If you desire to bring your own computer for classes, you can do so, but only at your own risk. We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen personal items. Should you choose to do so, we highly recommend that you have a newer MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with M1 chip (will help future-proof your laptop). A newer Laptop with 16 GB of ram will work great too.
CAN I HAVE A JOB WHILE ENROLLED?
Yes, we advise you to plan to find a good part-time job in the Busia community working evenings but preferably Friday through Sunday only. This has been the best way to afford extra expenses you may incur during the school year. We also encourage you to raise as much support as you can before moving to Busia and beginning the 10/40 MTI class semesters. Please note that jobs may be few in Busia.
IS THE 10/40 MTI ASSOCIATED WITH A CHURCH OR DENOMINATION?
We are affiliated with the interdenominational Busia Miracle Center Ministries which is a Spirit-Filled church. We are a non-profit Christian organization.
DO I NEED TO ATTEND A BIBLE SCHOOL OR COLLEGE FIRST?
You are welcome to attend the school regardless of whether you’ve graduated from Bible School or college. Those who have previously attended a form of Bible School or college find that this school enriches their education by providing them with a unique practical outlet for what they have already learned, but in no way is it a requirement.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?
The 10/40 MTI is open to people ages 18 and above. You must have graduated from High School or received a GED in order to be qualified.
WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I AM ACCEPTED OR NOT?
Once we receive your application, we will begin the interview process. This could take anywhere from 1-2 months. Once you are accepted, you will receive an official notification via email and/or IM.
